By The Way - Events This March

If you missed last year’s run of Kumar: Stripped Bare and Standing Up, then head this year to the Esplanade Theatre from 4 to 7 March. The show with ticket prices starting at only $18 is directed by Chief Dim Sum Dolly Selena Tan and back by popular demand!

Outrageously funny, the undisputed drag Queen of local comedy strips off more than just skin tight panty hose and turns his “no-holds barred” wicked sense of humour onto himself. Hear stories of his Boom Boom room antics, his army escapades among other hilarious recollections.

Take a sneak peek at someone’s priceless private art collection? You can at Fairy Tales, an exhibition of 25 pieces of contemporary art from the MaGMA collection held at the Opera Gallery at ION Orchard from 26 March to 22 April.

The theme ‘Fairy Tales’ is based on a compelling narrative inspired by real-life events showcasing contemporary Chinese artists Liu Ye, Wang Guangyi, Yue Minjun, Li Shan, Zeng Fanzhi and Zhou Chunya, Southeast Asian artists, David Chan, Justin Lee and Nyoman Masriadi as well as French artists Pierre and Gilles and Bettina Rheims. The artworks will be displayed in portable diptychs specifically conceptualized and designed by Studio Milou Architecture, creating a physical experience of walking through a giant fairy tale book.

In addition, a Fairy Tale Competition is ongoing till 15 March where the public can share how works of art have touched their lives or enriched their thoughts at www.facebook.com/magma.sg. Three winning entries will win a romantic getaway at Pan Pacific Singapore.
