Binge – Stand and Rejoice!

Yes, the bear is biting and it can be a painful world out there right now, but one must still eat….and drink for that matter. So even as our purses are slimming down faster than our waistlines, the silver lining is, so are the price tags on many meals (and cocktails) around town. What have we found this time? Oooh, bargains aplenty.

Located at Playground@BigSplash, and with as utilitarian a name like Seafood International Market and Restaurant, it is admittedly unglamorous. But the food is good and the restaurant has been a fixture there at Big Splash forever. So with kids or the clan in tow, let’s allow ourselves on occasion to be a little less than absolutely stylish and head there for the a la carte buffet. Why? A spread of 40 dishes served a la minute at a fabulicious price of $22.80++ for adults weekdays and $24.80++ on weekends. Braised mini abalone, pan fried cod fillet, braised sea cucumber with yam, drunken sakura chicken, seafood tom yam, roast duck with sesame sauce, seafood vermicelli with fish gravy, etc. Lots of good food easy that’s real on the pocket.

And the necessary drink? Let’s saunter back to my favourite Pan Pacific Hotel for lots of candy! Lots of dates and numbers, so pay attention. This time, it’s a delicious new deal of 1-for-1 housepours daily at the Atrium from 7-9pm, together with complimentary servings of their signature homemade sausages – absolutely to die for. This lasts until 3 May.

Up on the 4th floor, its al fresco Brunch outlet does a similar 1-for-1 Sundays to Thursdays from 5pm – 9 pm until 28 May. Free nibbles here include their cold cuts. After that, you can show your dining receipt from any of the hotel’s restaurants and get 15% off your foodie buys at The Deli. Make a beeline for the sausages. This bit of lurve lasts until 31 May.

Finally, for weekday lunch, Bistro Senso at The Singapore Flyer has brought their prices down to an exquisite $12 for three courses. How do they do that?? You get a Caesar salad or soup, margherita pizza or pasta with a choice of three sauces, and a dessert of panna cotta with mixed berries or tiramisu. Cheap and with choices too!

See? There’s still joy to be had in life’s little delights. All stand and rejoice!
