Buys - Bag Lady - Part 1

You can’t resist a good bag? Nor can we. We share the few new beauties that have emerged this season.

Chloe launches the “Christmas Paraty” (yes, that is ‘party’ spelt incorrectly and on purpose). This emblematic model for the brand at HK$16,170 is a limited edition for Christmas 09. Created by Hannah Macgibbon, the bag has a black velvet interior and sophisticated details like a detachable dark velvet pompom inlayed with gold rivets and outlined with a gold chain inspired by the “fleur’ handbag. Metallic bronze leather is used on the underside of the black handles and this subtly outlines an inside pocket. A discreet gold metallic ‘Chloé’ logo enhances the front of the handbag. Tods launches two bags: the Pashmy Shoulder Bag for women in vibrant colours with striking art deco style brass metal chain handle and a Men’s Pashmy Bag which is utilitarian and light weight with a central leather band in different striking colours. Both bags are HK$6,700 each. See: www.tods.com

Chopard also launches The Mini Caroline line of handbags which promise to shield your personal effects from the frosts of winter. The natural look of reversed sheepskin and brown leather allow the fine details of the Mini Caroline to emerge, such as the small heart with floating diamonds that adorns the clasp. S$2990. See: www.chopard.com

Chanel also launches their Coco Cocoon fronted by Lily Allen. Reversible and made in puffy leather, this one reminds me very much of a cushy camping pillow or sleep bag. Quite a difference from the usual Chanel style but I like the fun that these piece adds. Although I have to say that I have already seen the rip offs hit the street markets in Mongkok. I am sure Coco would not rest in peace. See: www.chanel.com
