Wessex Estate seems to be the home of many new art studios and galleries. This lush estate previously famous only for Col Bar and the fuddy duddy Temasek Club is now a haven for the artistic community with its cluster of galleries coming together for an open-house Art Market activity this coming weekend. If you are in the vicinity, head down for an open house walkabout. Start at the Wessex Village Square at the intersection of Portsdown and Whitchurch Road. Some of the resident galleries are organizing free painting classes and clay modeling workshops for the kids with cookies and coffee thrown in and and possibly some free jazz in the background. Raw and interesting, check this one out for a laid back afternoon.
